My first nomination will be for the man who made popular music popular.
Born, 1915 in Hoboken, New Jersey. Died, 1998 from a heart attack at the age of 82.
Making his start with the big bands of Harry James and Tommy Dorsey, it wasn't long before Frank had made his way on his own.
That woul be in the mid-40's after being signed by Columbia Records in 1943.
Greatest popularity would come in the 50's after switching to Capitol.
Still another change in the founding of the Reprise label in 1961.
Retired from the business in 1971, only to come back in 1980 with probably his most well known recording of New York, New York.
Inductee into the Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame (1980)
Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Medal of Honor Award (1983)
Society of Singers Lifetime Achievement Award (1990)
Named as the "Greatest Voice of the Twentieth Century" by BBC Radio 2 (2001)
Inductee into the Hit Parade Hall of Fame. (2007)
Three Academy Awards for best motion picture songs
...Three Coins In The Fountain
...All The Way
...High Hopes
Grammy Awards which were not even around during Franks peak years
...Frank Sinatra Sings For Only The Lonely (Best Recording Package - 1959)
...Come Dance With Me (Album Of The Year, Male Vocal Performance - 1959)
...September Of My Years (Album Of The Year - 1966)
...It Was A Very Good Year (Male Vocal Performance - 1966)
...Strangers In The Night (Record Of The Year, Male Vocal Performance - 1967)
...A Man And His Music (Album Of The Year - 1967)
...Lifetime Achievement Award - 1966

after all of that, doesn't Ol' Blue Eyes deserve one more award, an induction into the MD Hall Of Fame

The Chairman certainly gets a vote from me.

Masterful phrasing & a brilliant interpretative vocalist.

Good one MH.

Me too! Don't have a single album by him, but I just loved that big sound he and his band had. Of course I have to vote for him otherwise the Mafia will be after me if I don't...........
