I don't know what female vocalists are genuine(quality music, songwriter and maybe plays an instrument) - I know names...LadyGaGa,Adele,Jessie J (love her catchy Price Tag song),Kaki King, Esperanza Spalding (very talented),Alicia Keys,Lily Allen,Neko Case,Katie Perry, etc. even Britney Spears, Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez must hold some validity because they've been around for awhile and you can't really say that they're a " flash in the pan " ! I realise good looks count here also but usually they're matched with talent !
Also I have to mention Ilse Delange who Gryph recommended ? She's dynamite ! I know I've mixed genres somewhat.
Who are a few "today" singers that stand out for you ?

Darn, why did I forget Pink - I love her ! Should have remembered Taylor Swift as she has the complete package - looks, voice, song writer and guitar player ! Familiar with Adele and Yanofsky.... will definitely check out the others... Pritchard and Rumer.
