This is their debate album , two girls two boys: a guitarist ( Avi ) a keyboard player, bass and drums...Largely this band has attempted to make it on their own without really using the possible big name connections hinted at on their web page. A great cover for the CD!
Track One Truth Sets In: A nice guitar intro heralds in a simple and easily accessible track..with audible lyrics and a good sense of rhythm and melody. A finger picking guitarist stars on acoustic and makes his well built guitar resound to give a full and gentle sound.
Track Two What in it For : The style continues here with good vocal technique and a good feel for building a song and crafting the melody. Itâs clear that the band have studied the past sounds that have come out of California and their sound reflect the picture of sun sea and bright feelings that come from the area.
Track Three Coaxed : We have lost some of the strength here as this is a weaker and more rambling track OK but, not he star track of the album. At the end the guitar sounds could affect the sounds of the ocean but its not that convincing.
Track Four Five Little Sluts: Again a good jangly guitar intro ......I felt that this track had poor production....it is a good vocal but its too low in the mix to make the impact that it should as a result the affect is rather lost .................
Track Five Jessica : A good attempt at a love song and it has potential but he emotions are portrayed in pale shades rather than full Technicolor...there is potential in this band but I feel they need a bit of help to develop it fully. Again the ocean sounds approach is tried and is only half successful
Track Six Summer Cum : A nice and original start but, a terribly spotty song content. I prefer âPictures of Lilyâ By The Who for this approach
Track Seven One Last: A better produced track which exploits the vocal style well . Nice simple melody and a joyful lyric, combine to make an appealing track.
Track Eight Canât I Know: Again a feeling of being good gentle song with weak production
..There is plenty here but it is not put across with much force. This sounds almost like a demo..........
Track Nine Remember Last Time : A Good effort , towards the end they get to grips with what they want to be about and start to really shine.
Track Ten Whereâs Your Dirty Mind .: Quiet track that didnât grip me.
Track Eleven Suns : Charming but, not a strong performance.
Track Twelve Iâm So Exclusive .: Nice gentle music but still at an early stage. Seems to wander a little too much!
Track Thirteen Jessica( Redo) : A second try with different effects..............still does not really add anything to the song.:confused::hippie:
A band which is still evolving.....good in places, nice naive style but, needs work to firm up what they really are and where they are going.........The album has great charm ad sounds largely like a collection of demos ...........they plan quite extensive touring in the next few months and maybe this will help them realise the potential shown in this first album.
