I watched the opening ceremony...thought it was very good.

i hate swimming/rowing/synchronised swimming, i might watch Michael Phelps if he makes a final or two to see if he can win gold, other than that, forget it...

i don't like the marathons but admire those who wish to run to the ends of the earth, much prefer the 1500 and shorter races...

gymnastics is cool, especially the thing they do with the balls and ribbons on the floor.

might also watch the boxing finals and some other track and field events if they happen to be on

They need to get serious about drug cheats IMO, that's the thing that spoils it for me. When it's basically a whole country that's cheating, I think they should be excluded, never mind about the possibility that they could boycott a future Olympics.

Too late for that now, but I really hope the officials are zealous about finding and banning individuals caught cheating, whether Russian, Australian, or any other nationality.

I wasn't going to watch any of it but at least they've banned certain 'drug cheats' from the land of Putin...

should put others on notice now that sooner or later they will be caught and punished,

but alas, im sure they'll be at least three or four more banned over the next couple of weeks from somewhere in the world,
lets hope that is not the case and these will be honest/fair/drug free games.

but as we know, these athletes ALL want the big bucks and endorsements when its over and some will do whatever it takes legally or illegally to get that cash!

I've got no great interesting in watching the Olympics from afar but it would have been good to be there.

I caught an Olympic beach volleyball session in Sydney in 2000. Brazil were in one of the matches, and the antics of the Brazilian fan contingent were a sight to behold - an event worth watching in itself.

I saw parts of the opening ceremony...had to see Team Canada march in! They got a rousing reception from the crowd! Mostly interested in women's soccer as they beat the Aussies 2-0 with only 10 players for 75 minutes on Thursday! Our superstar Christine Sinclair led the charges with an assist and a goal! Canada scored at the 20 second mark to set the record for fastest Olympic goal in history! They play Zimbabwe today and face the number 2 world ranked Germans next week!

I enjoy both Summer and Winter Olympics! Canada, being a northern country, has more success in the Winter games but hold their own in the Summer games! Besides the soccer, I'll watch any sport especially if there's a Canadian competing!

The Aussies will do well in the pool as usual! right Crazy mate?

I kinda watched the opening ceremonies (I was in and out of the room), but what I saw, I thought it was well done. Truth be told, this is one of my favorite couple of weeks EVER (well, every four years). Hailing from an athletic background, I love it all but find myself most intrugued by the gymnastics because of the RIDICULOUS then those athletes are able to do. (Case and point: I saw a guy last night do a push-up and the only thing touching the floor were his hands - WHAT?!?!?) I also love beach volleyball because I think it is one of the most exciting games because of how quickly the game and change and how quickly you can lose. Rugby fascinates me and Water Polo is the sport where, I feel I may have missed my calling *sigh*. And of course there is track which I think they should have a "normal" person perform each event so we can use it as a gauge of just how fast these folks are. THAT IS ALL!
