The 3 new genre based discussion boards seem to be doing well with good discussions taking place.
I would like to use this thread for any feedback regarding the discussion boards, layout, and anything missing you feel important.
With Regards...

If by "anything missing" you mean "missing genre boards" then I think it might be a good idea to introduce an "Experimental Music" board. It's a pretty horrible term, but I think it will be the place for all the remaining genres and artists that don't fit into any of the other boards.

I would have thought that 'World Music' covered the unknowns.... What do others think? We are not being obvious enough maybe?

I think experimental artists still have elements of some of the given genres in their sound. They are usually close enough to jazz, rock, electronic, etc that they can be discussed in those respective boards.
Unless you can cite some examples?

I was thinking mainly of stuff like Merzbow, Peter Brotzmann, Muslimgauze, Boyd Rice, Throbbing Gristle, AMM, Iannis Xenakis...I suppose genres like Free Improvisation, Noise, early Industrial, musique concrete, etc, etc, can be covered in the pre-existing boards (even Noise is a subgenre of electronic music, I guess) but they have more in common with each other than they do with their "own" genres.
Of course, an experimental board would create argument about what you should and shouldn't discuss on it, so maybe it isn't a good idea after all...

O, another suggestion is that Blues may be better as part of a Folk, Country and Blues board than stuck with Jazz and Funk. It's sonically and historically closer to Folk and Country music than it is Funk and Jazz.

On this point, my answer would be no!
Jazz & Blues have far more in common with each other than does Blues with Folk & Country (per se). Funk actually has far less to do with Jazz, or Blues to be honest.

Peter Brotzmann is definitely a jazz musician (and a great one, at that). The rest, I think, could be classified loosely as electronic music.
