Let's Generalize music!
#1
So I was thinking that the music, I mean all or almost all of the music there are in the world are only related to few of your sensitive spots on your brain.
I mean that's where it hits and you begin liking it because it means something to you or start liking even a certain genre of music to be accurate.

I know music comes from the something the person feels and so it does certainly hits at the related spot of the listeners. Exception could be some vague lyrics like tool which every fan has their own interpretation of the lyrics but let's forget about the lyrics for a second and just think about the music.

Since this is a chit chat, what do you guys think what gets in your head every time you listen to some kind of music you listen to?
And by that I mean, what part of your brain does it energize? love, hate , sadness, pride, insanity, contentedness, destruction???

You can name more if I have missed anything . And don't forget to mention what is the most you like?

Say what?? New-Age, feel-good pabulum. Is this some Kumbaya thingie? There's a vast chasm between drawing from all musics elements and genres, and making that your own (See: Caribbean Jazz Project and other disparate aggregations), and putting them all in the jambalaya mixing bowl and homogenizing them to take the soul and cultural reference points out of them (see: smooth jazz). What is it that you arguing in favor of? Some clarity would be nice. Have a nice day.
A man accustomed to hear only the echo of his own sentiments, soon bars all the common avenues of delight, and has no part in the general gratification of mankind--Dr. Johnson

I am not arguing in favor of anything. It is just a simple question. I am asking what emotion on your brain is tantalized by the type of music you hear?

Hey, that's a BIG question/issue. You do know that great Philosophers of the past and present have been and are still delving into the phenomenon of music and its influence on man from both a scientific and anthropological point of view? Because that's what it all comes down to: Our biochemistry in union with our culture and upbringing. Music has an inestimable impact on our lives, far more than we care to imagine or admit. Fact is, we humans rationalize much of what we do, and have disconnected from the merely instinctual and emotional reception of music. Apart from some exceptions. We have also been contaminated by the abusers of mass psyche (the last century and ours mostly) using idols to get music sold well. It is a various and complex picture to sum up in a few words. I like to take animals and their response to music into account. Most of these 'instinctual' creatures love classical music. Curious, eh? As for me, I have specified before that I am not your typical listener, because I am a professional musician and teacher.
So what I like and prefer and which of my intellectual and emotional vibes are touched when listening to my preferences is rather more complex than most. Perhaps I am even more contaminated than most by over-education of my ear and aesthetics.
Were I to list my preferences I think you'd get tired. and not only you. But I put 'classical' (an inappropriate term by all means) at the top of my list. Because with it I feel, think, breathe. I admire masterpieces of great Genius. But I like many more genres of music, and according to mood, place and attitude I prefer one or the other. If I go out some place for a swig of whiskey I prefer smooth jazz or jazz ballads. I certainly wouldn't be disposed to hear Beethoven's Ninth in such a setting. Well, it depends on the kind of brain one has, or sensitivity at that.

I think I'm insane! I can't stay with the same band or genre for a long time. I may feel like the blues then all of a sudden say...no I want metal!!!..lol...So much music out there to the point of extreme overload! It overwhelms me....I am always thinking that I will miss that lost chord if I don't check out this band or that genre....see I told you I was a mess!..the price to pay when you really don't have an overwhelming favourite music genre! I guess I prefer a buffet over one large meal!!!!
The ultimate connection is between a performer and its' audience!
