Recommend a Jazz or Blues CD to buy?
#1
I am someone who is always willing to expand my horizons, and CD collection.

What I currently enjoy listening to is trio type JAM music, and ideally with a Double Bass as I love the deep sound it produces.

Therefore, if anyone thinks of a good CD you enjoy, and maybe think I might also. Then please post the details :coffee:

The recently departed Oscar Peterson is a great place to start for what you are currenyly enjoying Tony and this album from 1973 which also features Joe Pass on guitar and Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen on bass is wonderful.

[/INDENT]The same trio also features on this recording from 1979 with the addition of Stephane Grappelli on violin and Mickey Roker on drums.

Dudley Moore - one of Britain's all-time top funnymen - was a talented pianist.

In the late 60s, he wrote and starred alongside with Peter Cook in a film called Bedazzled.

Moore also wrote the score, and it's a corker. Very jazz-like.

I really like Charlie Parker's Ultimate Collection... I can't find anything other than this, though, otherwise I'd recommend a real album of his.

I'm not sure of what there are around either mate, but you'll find a lot more about both him and what is around at http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=11:d9fpxqqgld0e~T1 which is his biography at the All Music Guide and also has a link to his recorded works available. :coffee:

Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass - Goin' Places!

Great album. I have it on vinyl. It may lose some of its awesomeness as a CD, but Herb Alpert was an amazing songwriter.
