I didn't see a thread or sticky for favorites in regard to a particular instrument, and I am on a piano and drums kick as of late.
SO, who are your favorite pianists and drummers of the Jazz persuasion??
Piano = Bud Powell
Drums = Art Blakey
What about you guys?

I really don't have favourites in jazz because there are so many intelligent musicians in this genre.....but if I narrow it down to two players for mainstream jazz as opposed to free jazz , I'd have to pick my Canadian compatriot Oscar Peterson on piano and the drummer always will be Buddy Rich !

Jack Dejohnette actually plays both instruments, and he is one of my all-time favorite drummers

Don't know a whole lot about jazz in general but 'Take Five' is still my favourite.

That's a great tune, Jerome, and one that is under appreciated by people firmly and only entrenched in jazz. It's the perfect balance between jazz and pop sensibility.
