two matched scheduled for saturday...
South Africa take on the unpredictable Pakistan and
Sth African neighbours Zimbabwe take on Ireland

Pakistan to win in the first game as theyve lifted their game in the last week or so and
Ireland have one more tournament win than the Magabe-ians, i think i'll have to predict Ireland....

Thanks for the explanations Crazy mate! Another thing I noticed was that the batsman can hit the ball in any direction! even behind him so their are no foul balls as in baseball! Baseball is child's play compared to cricket I'm afraid. They don't use gloves in the outfield! Must be a bit painful sometimes catching the ball!

I got a kick out of why they finally put fences in...lol...and how many points do you get if you hit the ball out of the park?
The ultimate connection is between a performer and its' audience!

the bowlers can bowl so-called 'fouls'...
if they bowl a ball that is deemed too wide for the batsman to reasonably hit it is a 'wide',notice the white strips a couple of feet either side of the batsman when they bat.
if the bowler bowls one that bounces around the batsmans head it is deemed to be a 'no-ball'
the bowler also has to bowl behind a certain point, if he goes over that mark the ball is deemed to be a 'no ball'

the batting team recieve a bonus run if this occurs and the bowler also has to bowl an extra ball in his 'over'...

catching the ball....its not uncommon for cricketers to get stress fractures, dislocations, webbing splits etc on their fingers/hands at times during their careers...
but hey, cricketers probably couldnt catcha ball in a mitt because theyre not used to it(i know i couldnt do it when i tries), and baseballers couldnt catch properly using their bare hands,
horses for courses and all that...you know how it goes!

New Zealand take on Afghanastan tomorrow....should be a walkover/shoe-in for the Kiwi team!
also,
Australia take on Sri Lanka in what should be a cracker of a game...
Sri Lanka are the 'team to beat' in this tournament, theyre playing sublime cricket and Australia will need to be at their best to beat them...
for Australia to win i think theyll have to lift a couple of gears and the Sri Lankans will have to drop a couple of gears.

so New Zealand and Sri Lanka for me tomorrow...
