you are starting to sound like a fanatical envangelical preacher and this is not the forum for it, this is a site that discusses "music" and NOT for over zealous Religious beliefs!

I have to side with CRAZY-HORSE. I'm sensing a lot of unwanted proselytizing here. I'm as secular and non-religious as they come. If you want to come here and discuss the musical content of gospel, that's fine. When you start getting into religious overtones, that's where you might get into trouble. It's probably for your own good to avoid that.

Religion is the commercialisation of man's natural spirituality. As soon as you take something that occurs naturally and turn it into a money-making enterprise you distort it. The same is true of music. There's a reason Christ threw the moneylenders out of the temple.

I remember reading a slogan many moons ago - 'Pop Will Eat Itself'
Well religion has already done so.
'The purpose of life is a life of purpose' - Athena Orchard.

shasha munzara Wrote:Not really. All musicians express a knowledge and interest in either of these 2 powers. Talk about the beatles & other backward maskers - Who would have thought that such an innocent sounding tune like 'Welcome to the hotel california' has a backward message "Shake hands with the devil, he blah-blah", or "Obladi-bladah life goes on blahh" has a seriously satanic message when flipped over.

There really is no gray area, either they're for or against it.

We can therefore conclude that ALL MUSIC IS GOSPEL MUSIC. The message behind it whether ironically, sarcastically or sincerely conveyed in turn, determines WHICH KINGDOM'S GOSPEL (Heaven or hell) is being preached.

Wow, this is Philosophy 101 here - Fallacy of false cause.

Your argument is just like me saying:
Elvis is Good
Ice Cream is good
Therefore Elvis is Ice Cream

Correlation does not prove causation.

furthermore the Word Gospel is a derivative of Godspell,,,which could open up another can of beans so I'll leave it to rest.

Not proselyting. We're atomizing the umbrella term "music" to deduce the integrated elements it comprises. Back-masking is an element of music, isn't it? Why then should you threaten fellow members for assessing this element, that's dictatorship! I live in Africa where we exercise freedom of speech & religion.

What we're appraising here are the causative factors resulting in this "correlation".

Just like:

Elvis is an anagram for EvilS

You are EvilB

Both of you are musicians.

We won't say that you are elvis, but that you both have something(s) in common.

We all know that the Revolution 9 cassette had a lot of embedded messages. "O-bla-di o-bla-da" flipped over repeated "Hi devil, he's devil" (probably in reference to the "desmond" character who "molly" lives happily ever after with). O-O-O-O-OH!

Why do you criticize me for questioning why the Eagles' "Hotel California" flipped over says "Yeah satan has also formed his own religion"? My question is: what is that religion?

You're all "amen-ing" each other, you sound more religious than me.

We're here to study music and its contents, not to tell each other to keep silent about certain unscrupulous practices, THAT'S DICTATORSHIP! In Africa we're free to analyze and assess.
