Isolated Genre
#1
Hi, one thing conspicuous is the omission of the Gospel - (don't blow up now) - from nearly all music forums, though it is a music genre, isn't it?

Again, I believe that we were created, some of us with the natural gift to worship & praise our Creator, though at times we can misuse these natural gifts to amke demagogues, transient fantasmal 'kings' & 'queens' of ourselves, then die absolute nobodies.

There was a character called lucifer, who led worship in heaven & eventually wanted to make himself equal to the Almighty etc.

What message are we conveying? Which of the two are we honoring & exalting in song & in dance?

i personally love Gospel but there is little interest in that Genre, as with Reggae, therefore both Genres would be classed in the "world music" threads on ths forum....

On MD there is very little interest in such a genre!
Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!

It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
It's the strangest elation
I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary
It makes a man frown.

And I am beginning to think the same holds true for perhaps hard rock and certainly heavy metal ...???? unfortunately, as metal is not all grunts, screams and death growls !!!!....lol

I don't use music for exalting, much.

Music has a long history of links with religion, but that's largely in the past.

The devil definitely has the best tunes, though...

Not really. All musicians express a knowledge and interest in either of these 2 powers. Talk about the beatles & other backward maskers - Who would have thought that such an innocent sounding tune like 'Welcome to the hotel california' has a backward message "Shake hands with the devil, he blah-blah", or "Obladi-bladah life goes on blahh" has a seriously satanic message when flipped over.

There really is no gray area, either they're for or against it.

We can therefore conclude that ALL MUSIC IS GOSPEL MUSIC. The message behind it whether ironically, sarcastically or sincerely conveyed in turn, determines WHICH KINGDOM'S GOSPEL (Heaven or hell) is being preached.

......and what a load of crap! with the Obla-di Obla-da rubbish...its just a song!, you can read anything you want to in a song...classic example Charles Manson with Helter Skelter,Piggies,Blackbird etc etc

you are starting to sound like a fanatical envangelical preacher and this is not the forum for it, this is a site that discusses "music" and NOT for over zealous Religious beliefs!

I think you have re-enforced the original statement...............there is plenty of gray .................in fact it is by far he predominant situation .........................Music is not either this or that , it is not in praise of this or that..............it is simply an embodiment of emotion..................................

GOSPEL to me is Elvis Presley singing How Great Thou Art, Mahalia Jackson, Mississippi Gospel Choir and many others that sing directly in praise of the Lord Jesus Christ,,,in my humble opinion !
