MUSICAL DEATHS 2020:
#21
you are correct about blurring the line
the man had 39 albums
I guess the mid 80's turned it for me
a lot of albums after that had maybe 1 or 2 semi-country then just pure pop
I do love those 2 duets you mentioned

He just had some kind of universal appeal. My older daughter loooves "The Gambler" (as do 46 million other people according to the clip) - so that's what it has to be from me! Farewell to another music industry icon ... R.I.P. Kenny Rogers. Sad

Manu Dibango

African traditional beats/jazz fusion dude

aged 86

cause of death:  Covid-19

the article:  https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/world/afr...spartanntp

Wiki lists some 80 albums since 1968
im assuming there are live and compilations in the list but the far majority look like studio albums to me:

only thing of his I am familiar with and thats only because he sued MJ over plagarism (wanna be startin something)
to which MJ settled out of court back in the day.

Sadly country singer Joe Diffie went forward today because of the Corona sickness. Go here for the news. I got to meet him at my one and only CMA Music Festival in 2000 which was named Fan Fair at the time and again in 2007 when he came here to my area. A beautiful man Joe was. Sadly I am having a problem getting my favorite picture of me and him together up here and so in the mean time, here is one of his best songs in my opinion.

God bless you and his family always!!!

Holly

P.S. I pray that his 1992 Music City News award show performance of "The Ships That Don't Come In" is somewhere online again someday soon because it is awesome!!!
Listen to my most favorite singer here sometime, James Otto that is!

^R.I.P. Joe Diffie.

Music sites are reporting several Covid-19 related deaths. So tragic and distressing for all of them and their families and loved ones. R.I.P.

Allan Merrill, 69 - he wrote "I Love Rock n Roll" made famous by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts amongst other things. He passed away in Manhattan. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Merrill

And Adam Schlesinger, 52 - of Fountains of Wayne originally, a musician, composer and songwriter - he was in Poughkeepsie, New York. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Merrill

so sad for the families of all of those, I fear Mr Prine may be next...

Covid-19 could possibly take a few more out over the next couple of months also
