The idea for this thread is to post a quote you feel like sharing that either references music, or is a quote by, or about a musician/singer, or even an excerpt from a particular set of lyrics, or is anecdotal – that sort of thing.
It could be something profound, or funny, or quirky, or just plain beautiful (or not) – whatever speaks to you.
We could keep it to one per member, per day for now (so as not to use them all up at once, lol!), however, there are no hard and fast rules about that so share away if you wish.
The quote can be in text format, or you could use an image, or a clip – whatever you choose, but please give due credit. This is an essential requirement (unless it’s ol’ 'Anon', or the very prolific 'Unknown', of course!).
An accompanying track/song would be great too, if that works for you. If not – so be it.
Who knows – something interesting might develop.
I’ll start then …
“If I knew I had to play this song the rest of my life I probably would'a wrote something else….”
― Joe Walsh (“Rocky Mountain Way”)
And here's the song in question ...

"My kids are starting to notice I'm a little different from the other dads; "Why don't you have a straight job like everyone else?" they asked me the other day.
I told them this story:
In the forest, there was a crooked tree and a straight tree. Every day, the straight tree would say to the crooked tree, "Look at me...I'm tall, and I'm straight, and I'm handsome. Look at you...you're all crooked and bent over. No one wants to look at you." And they grew up in that forest together. And then one day the loggers came, and they saw the crooked tree and the straight tree, and they said, "Just cut the straight trees and leave the rest." So the loggers turned all the straight trees into lumber and toothpicks and paper. And the crooked tree is still there, growing stronger and stranger every day."
Tom Waits
(This one might be my favourite by the strange crooked tree!)

Not a musical quote at all. I was looking for a quote from Kahil Gibran's 'The Prophet' which did contain a musical reference and when I find it I will post it, but in the meantime
It takes a minute to have a crush on someone, an hour to like someone, and a day to love someone... but it takes a lifetime to forget someone.”

From his extended and rather entertaining rant on Kenny G’s presumptuous (to put it mildly) overdubbing of Louis Armstrong. The whole speech here …

“A gut-string classical Spanish guitar, a sweet, lovely little lady. The smell of it. Even now, to open a guitar case, when it's an old wooden guitar, I could crawl in and close the lid.”
Keith Richards
I can relate to this – my father has one of those and that smell is so evocative.

“I’m pleased with my vocals on this album. Innuendo is a word I often use in Scrabble. For Queen, it’s a perfect title.”
