I don't know if you know the singer Kerli, but she made a new genre for herself and called it bubble goth. Basically, she dressed cutsey goth and sang pop music. It's not entirely new ... or new at all really. But she tried something.

If I had to choose from the above poll, I would go for Jazz and Blues. I personally like all genres mentioned but my absolute fav. would be the R&B/Soul and "Funk" genre.

i hope you are talking about REAL "r+b/soul"....and not that modern crap they call R&B/soul?????....ie: Wlison Pickett/Otis Redding/Soloman Burke etc and not Rihanna/Drake etc.... LOL

Otis Redding (as you mentioned) is one of the greatest voices ever. You will notice the music just accents his voice and rarely will you ever hear the use of backup vocals in most of his recordings.

There are just so many artist and bands to mention within the Soul/R&B/ and Funk genres. Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, Barry White, and Stevie Wonder are a few R&B/Soul artist worth mention.

My favorite era and style would be 70s Funk. Average White Band, Isley Brothers, Funkadelic/Parliament (P-Funk), Rick James (P-Funk), Brothers Johnson, Ohio Players, Sly & The Family Stone, and the list just goes on.

There are recent modern "Contemporary R&B" songs I like ranging from different decades starting in the 90s up until the current day. Very few though, especially from the last decade or so.

I would more than likely go with modern Funk Rock (Red Hot Chili Peppers) for example, if I was to choose one of the better Soul/R&B/Funk influenced genres of modern times.
