a staple at Sun Records, played on Carl Perkins' "blue suede shoes" amongst others, drums on the infamous Million Dollar Quartet session, as part of John Cash's Tennessee Three and remained with him until 2008.
so without a doubt an integral part of early Rock and Roll history.
lets go with Carl's classic as a tribute:
RIP Fluke

if so,
what would you recommend as an introduction to the band?
RIP Lee Kerslake. You must know "July Morning"? That's on Look at Yourself - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAx5XtiB2CQ - my friend Douglas Maxwell designed the cover for that album, swiftly followed by Roger Dean on the next! Lol! He worked for Island Records and also did some work for Bronze way back when. Got to hobnob with various musos - the Beatles, Traffic, Dylan, etc. Cool stories - a vanishing world.
He designed this one too - typical of his sense of humour - he's quite mad, in a sane kinda way ... a compilation of various artists - 1971 ...

Nope - not all that familiar with French singers other than Edith Piaf and Françoise Hardy. RIP Juliette Greco.

released his first single in 1959, his last in 2003.
biggest hit, and to be honest, the only one a can remember is this classic from the early 1970s:
should have been released the world over, would have been a huge hit everywhere if it had, but in those days it was just too hard
to take Aussie artists to the world without some 'backing'...

Sadly 2020 has claimed two other musical legends: Eddie Van Halen and Johnny Nash who gave us the song named "I Can See Clearly Now" back in 1972.
God bless you and their families always!!!
Holly
P.S. It was on this day five years ago that one of my favorites went forward, if only I had officially discovered Billy Joe Royal before then.
Listen to my most favorite singer here sometime, James Otto that is!
