DON EVERLY

aged: 84

cause: natural.

the article:  Don Everly dead: Everly Brothers star behind huge hits like Bye Bye Love dies aged 84 (msn.com)

Wiki:  The Everly Brothers - Wikipedia

one half of one of the seminal early rock and roll acts.
soft rock/easy listening/country/country-crossover...
he wrote or co-wrote some of the most iconic pop songs of the pre-Beatle era.
Cathy's Clown, Ebony Eyes, All I Have To Do Is Dream, Bye Bye Love, When Will I Be Loved, the list goes on....
a sad loss indeed.

my favourite wasnt even issued as a single:

as a bonus, The Everly's most famous song, and my mum's favourite:

"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.

BRIAN TRAVERS

saxophonist/lyricist for UB40.

aged:  62

cause:  cancer.

the article:  UB40 founding member Brian Travers dies at 62 (msn.com)

"labour of love" wasnt too bad an album.
and theres a handful of singles of theirs that i really liked but thats it.
the exceptions being their first two albums, "signing off" and "present arms" which were excellent IMO.

as a tribute, one of their earliest singles, pre-commercialism.
lots of saxaphone on this one.

R.I.P. Charlie Watts, aged 80. What a remarkably long and well-lived career in the biz - whoever would have thought it of any of this lot?? Starting to feel like the great gig in the sky has reached a tipping point - more of the good ones there now than those left behind. All a bit depressing - reality sucks.

just woke up to this tragic (yet to a degree probably expected) news with how sick he has been, like you mentioned Ruby.
a solid drummer by anyone's standards IMO,
like Ringo, he made it look so damn easy.

but i think the show will go on...Keith and Mick will continue the tour in honour of, and for the memory of Charlie.

RIP CW.

Never really a Stones fan but Charlie was the foundation of the band. The bedrock of the outfit. And the only sensible one in the band as well. RIP.
