SteveO Wrote:It's all in the vocals for me !!!!

They're playing here tonight, but I won'y be goin' !!!! Great band no doubt, powerful music, one of the greatest metal bands in history, but folks I cannot tolerate James Hetfield's vocals , as well as Dave Matthews, Nickelback and sorry Eddie Veder !!!!

I've tried and tried to like the above groups believe me ! But no go, I appreciate their talent and appeal for others, sadly to say they're not for me due to the vocals !

iguess Metallica are good at what they do but they do it for me!
Dave Matthews..yech!
Nickelback, liked their early material but its all much of a muchness now
Eddie Vedder....ive tried to like Pearl Jam but just cant for some reason...even the Finn/Neil Young connection isnt enough.

Maybe Matthews does a lot of free concerts ??? I know he has a huge live album discography ... one a year I think !
The ultimate connection is between a performer and its' audience!

How can you dislike Radiohead!?

CRAZY-HORSE:
that's the beauty on music...we can agree to disagree
Radiohead have never made my ears prick up enough to take notice...not sure why exactly??

i might have to give them another go at some point.

[quote=Dementia32]Dave Matthews Band.

I don't get it. Never did. I tried. Nothing wrong with the musicians... just don't like their music. It reminds me of carnival music for some reason, and I think that it may have more to do with his voice than anything else.
I don't get it either

Bands or artists I dislike have either got to be the talentless artificial variety, who are constructed by some faceless record company and bandy about the terms 'artist' and 'musician' far too easily. As an actual musician I've had to work for years teaching myself instruments etc and the idea that someone is given this title almost offends me.
Or actual musicians who believe their title gives them the right to drink, smoke and take whatever they like, have childish temper tantrums or do whomever they like. Not only is this an abuse of the industry but I think creates terrible role models for some children.
Whilst no paticular examples come to mind I'm sure you guys can think of a few Wink

i really can't stand Elton john because i feel (and if you live in the uk you will know what im talking about) he has used being gay and adopting a baby to get himself back in the limelight. He has had many of the gossip mags to pay him to take pictures of his baby. This is just wrong on so many levels. sexual preference should never be used to gain fame.

p.s. im not homophobic in the slightest.

I see your point MH. I'm lucky enough not to have daughters but I can see where Madonna would have irked you. I loved her as a kid much like your girls, I don't think she had a negative effect on me though. She made me want to grow up to move to NYC and be a dancer, never get married etc. but by the time I was 19 I was married with my first kid lol

Elton John - I have never understood how he is so seemingly adored and consistently placed within the category of "classic rock" - but that's a whole separate debate I suppose. His songs make no sense to me. Sarah McLachlan - it's the voice. The voice! It physically hurts my being. I am not one who is particularly fond of female singers (nothing against women), I just prefer males. But this woman can make me want to puncture my own eardrums. Many respect her and I am sure she is talented. I just can't listen to her. The Cars - never got that. I think it's Ric Ocasek's voice. The voice can make or break it for me. Also they were so over-played. It was exhausting. Tiny Tim. *Shudder!* I still have nightmares about that dude.

I hate Oasis. Blur are imo one of the best bands of all time, but Oasis just feel shallow, bland, and lifeless. I also really hate Pearl Jam. There's no way they're grunge
