Fair point, but The Beatles have far more profound, complex, and emotional songs than One Direction will ever have. Choosing a simple Beatles songs(which are among many) doesn't diminish that another song is just as simple. I'd actually say that One Direction's music is dumb, which is different from simple.

even McCartney's stupid new "new" album is better than One Direction and he's 51yrs into a career, theyre in their 3rd year(one should be over the hill, the other at their peak...says it all IMO)

I'm honestly even baffled that someone would ask this question. When The Beatles hit America, the public obsessed over them. Okay maybe some young girls obsess over One Direction, and they are doing well for themselves financially. But they called it Beatlemania for a reason. No band has ever been bigger than them, for better or for worse. Hearing their names together is just a joke by now. "Oh my god, The Beatles have to stop copying One Direction"-random young girl on the internet.
