I have heard that some people believe that the Brittish boy band One Direction has hit America harder than Beatlemania.
I love The Beatles and I will listen to One Direction on a few occasions. But I personally don't believe that they hit harder than The Beatles. I mean, yeah they have had a pretty big crowd waiting for them in almost all of their concerts, but I don't think they are as big as The Beatles.
I really want your opinions, guys.
Do you agree? Disagree? Can't decide?

I bearly know who 1 direction is

but maybe they didn't have good promotion in Romania. But think about it this way, if the Beatles had the promotion means available today they would have had even more succes than they did so I'd say The Beatles win. I don't even want to start talking about their importance in music history.
I'm cheering for Arctic Monkeys!

The Beatles definitely hit America harder. When you look at how big singles were in the 1960s there were tens of millions of young people buying them. Also the Beatles made a huge impression when the media then was a fraction of what it is now ie the internet, digital TV stations, digital radio, internet radio etc.

You make a very valid point, would you agree that-because of media- that The Beatles got even popular?

If it weren't for The Beatles there would be no One Direction. John, Paul, George, and Ringo started a revolution that still in the hearts and minds of music lovers today. Their music still catches the ear of today's generation. Basically their music is timeless. I feel that One Direction will not last nearly as long as The Beatles, nor will they make as big of an impact on the music industry.
