No hype for the Beatles !!!! All great timeless music !!!! Their influence on pop rock music is astounding, yet obvious...look at the thousands of Beatle covers on You Tube...the music makers can identify greatness! They paid their dues before they became famous...a lot of playing in front of rowdy crowds and sleezy clubs, the infamous two year stint at the Star Club in Hamburg, Germany!....there is no denying that the Lennon McCartney songbook will endure many more decades unlike the majority of pop music since!!!!
The Beatles were not famous for their mop tops !!!!...Piero Scaruffi , the so called expert on the arts, stated that The Beatles were or are overrated just for the sake of being controversial ! His great musicians include Captain Beefheart and Soft Machine...great obscure stuff, no doubt! A former teenage MD member jumped on his band wagon and caused quite the kafuffle here ...lol...Scaruffi claims that the Beatles wanted to be avant garde but failed so they copied ideas from the Yardbirds, Beach Boys, etc...give me a freakin' break...they didn't just fall off of the turnip truck...they inhaled the early American (late fifties) rock and r n' b records that mariners brought to the seaport of Liverpool....Gene Vincent, Carl Perkins, Buddy Holly, Little Richard, Chuck Berry....their influences...
As some of you know by now, I listen to several kinds of music! However I have never heard music that embodies pure pop yet comes off as brilliant and original at the same time!
Of course The Beatles had a few avant garde songs,,,,Tomorrow Never Knows, Inner Light, Helter Skelter, Within You Without You, I am the Walrus, Strawberrry Fields.....

Quote:getting famous by association is not good, riding on the coattails of people who have physically achieved something is slack and lazy...a problem with the modern generation ie: you all want everything but dont want to do anything to get it!
I think you're taking a post on a thread that is meant to be fun, and reading into it a bit too deep. You also shouldn't generalize like that; (insert irony here) typical of the older generation to lack respect for the younger . While being famous by association isn't as prideful as being famous from one's own efforts there is nothing wrong with using any associated-fame you have accumulated to aid your own aspirations; it's called seizing an opportunity. Now a days I believe they call that "networking"? Riding coattails can be a lazy move, or an effecient one. It's not just about what ones does, but why one does it; work smarter not harder?
There should be a related and humorous picture after this text:
Quote: how can you have a prosperous solo career without talent...relying on the famous names of others who have achieved it will only take you so far before the world discovers/realises that you an "imposter/fake"
You assume I have no talent. Even if you're correct I would still get to live the ?dream? for a while, and that is something. Try to remember not everyone starts a music career for the same reason. For some it's about a love of making music, but for others it might just be about money (like any other job is).
Quote:why do you want to date "another celebrity"?...just to say you can is not valid or condusive to a forming a longterm relationship
As far as real life goes I don't care about dating a celebrity, that is not the point of a relationship, but we all have our celebrity crushes and this thread is just for fun; Jessica Alba is one of my celebrity crushes.
Quote:you are living in a dream world mate....that is not reality...but then again, your whole generation(and im assuming you are under 22) thinks this is 'real life', all those stupid reality shows have a bloody lot to answer for, and the Kardashians, who have no talent whatsoever are the main culprits IMO...
TRY GETTING A REAL JOB< DOING A GOOD HARD DAYS WORK AND ACTUALLY START EARNING THE MONEY YOU GET!
Not sure what you're going on about, but I don't appreciate the random negative assumptions made as though you're currently staring at a file containing the history of my life. If my post has offended you in some way I'm sorry. No I'm not under 22; I take it you don't like whipper-snappers? I've heard the name Kim Kardashian lots, seen her picture on magazines in checkout lines, but I don't know who she is. I'm guessing she's famous by association? If she makes more money than me, and does less work to get it then I'm impressed.

Given your signature I take it you are fan of them . I like the quote. I have a bit of their stuff, but it just never really caught on with me with the exception of Eleanor Rigby. Maybe if I had been introduced to them at a younger age I would have a greater appreciation?

I guess you had to be there for the long adventure to begin! I was there in 1964....old guy here! There was no hype(why do you think this?)......they revolutionised rock music, took the LP to a higher level, concept album and albums with all original material ! This is more of an education for you at first light! My final comments on The Beatles...for now!
Before 1964 rock was becoming dull and monotonous, somewhat the way it is now in a lot of cases..not all but the majority! You have to search for exciting new artists today...so much hype and crap out there ...music to make money like you said and then genuine honest music ...the two collide!!
I am still searching for the lost chord!

I would offer to play tambourine or triangle for UK, just to get Jobson, Wetton and Bozzio back together.

Electric triangle sounds like something Ian Anderson would use...
