R.I.P. Wayne Shorter. Mysterious Traveller is my go to in terms of Weather Report. I don't really listen to it, as such - just kinda let it be there and absorb it via osmosis, or something, lol ...

One of his compositions. Unmistakable sounds ...

This is turning out to be a year of major losses for the music industry. Gutted to learn of the passing of David Lindley on the 3rd of March. Musician extraordinaire - he was a genius - a wizard of stringed things with the ability to give his instruments a voice. R.I.P. Mr Lindley - never to be forgotten.

The bit everyone waits for is at 7.20 ... "The Loadout / Stay"  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scsJZ67ssDY

His performance at the the No Nukes concert was just phenomenal IMHO. Both he and and Jackson Browne were at the zenith of their careers, and there's so much more - with others as well as JB. These always spring to mind first though, when I think of David Lindley, so I'm listening to them ...

"Before the Deluge" ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XB7WFVGRknE

and "Crow on the Cradle" ...

R.I.P. Ray Shulman, co-founder of Gentle Giant with his older brother Derek. Not an aficionado by any means, but I am familiar with some of their stuff. Super talented musician and producer (not just for GG). He was 73 and had been ill for a long time. That's Ray on the violin and bass - sometimes both at once!! Another big loss.  Sad

Oh no. There's almost no-one left. One of my favourite composers. Totally unique approach to music. RIP. The world is a poorer place indeed.
