JESCA HOOP "stonechild"
release date: 5th July
sixth album
no sales figures
no chart info
no singles released
from Califor-ni-a
art folk
Suzanne Vega meets Joan Baez meets Father john Misty/Fleet Foxes
well constructed, personalised themes, sound has perfect clarity
but thats where the positives really stop for me
sounds like prose put to music as opposed to being songs.
not half the album i thought it was when i first heard it

they call her country
she may wel have been back in the early days
nowadays she is in Shania, Taylor territory, crossover pop
her lyrics are often a tongue in cheek observation of life in The South, good and bad.
album starts off in crossover pop vein, the second half is a bit more subdued
several lighthearted videos released from this one which always bring a smile to the dial

from Detroit
R+B, soul with bits of hip-hop thrown in
this gal has some lungs
she'd rival Amy for a powerful R+B bluesy voice
its just a shame about some of the language on the album
seems artists from Detroit are basically feral (I guess Quatro/Seger are the exceptions)
anyway,

from Colorado, Rocky Mountain High....
alt/folk band
concept album this time round
album split into three parts telling a fictional story from the perspective
of three separate fictional members of one fictional family and how they
deal with/live with someone who is a fictional addict...
every track has had a video made to accompany the songs, would have been nice for the band to
release a deluxe version of the album with bonus dvd so I could either listen to or watch the album!
very deep and dark album offset with light folk melodies and typical Lumineer vocals.
without a doubt my least favourite of their three albums because its so dark but
