Texas born Rocky Votolatao is an ex-member of the band Waxwing . In 1999 he decided to go solo and true devotion is his ninth solo effort.
This singer song writer relies mostly on his acoustic guitar effort to propel this album along, and in doing so may have limited his appeal just a tad : there is production based support on occasion to assist with the expression of his songs but, I donât feel that he manages to break much new ground .
The lyrics are reflections of his life experiences and show competence within his art and reflect something of his Texan roots but, I canât help feeling that he left is soul on the sidelines when writing, as much of the content lacks true passion to me I feel he is going through the motions of song writing ...................there are a few exceptions Red River is one, sun devil another , here he does get to grips with a good hook and meaningful lyrics ..............but this is not always the case., during the album.
[FONT="]Overall , a nice album with some good guitar work, but not one Iâm likely to wear out with playing.

Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!
It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
It's the strangest elation
I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary
It makes a man frown..............................Chris Simpson ( "Mixed Up Sensations" 1975 Martin's Cafe )
