Musician Deaths - 2017
#91
Never cared for David Cassidy but I did watch and like The Partridge Family way back when.
Saw he died from liver failure. Bad sickness.

RIP David Cassidy

Mel Tillis was a country favorite but I never cared for him.

However, RIP Mel Tillis

R.I.P. Johnny Hallyday - the biggest rock star you never heard of - seriously - I'll be surprised if the French don't declare a national day of mourning! He was 74 - lung cancer.

Known as the 'French Elvis', he was hugely popular - revered I'd say, in the French speaking world at large, and was a showman of note.

He adored Edith Piaf (even if she did tried to seduce him as a very young man, which freaked him out a bit) - this is him singing one of hers ...

Was unaware he died....
I was vaguely familiar with his name but that was all...

And yes, in French speaking countries I believe he was as popular as Elvis Presley

^Looked him up once or twice out of curiosity but otherwise, I am not familiar with his catalogue.
During the course of the BOTD thread, I've come across mentions of him several times.
You'll be interested to know he hired The Small Faces and Peter Frampton to contribute to one or two of his albums ... he adapted some of their songs and they played as well - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XY5RmjC9jhg

^Done. Sorry about that! It'll probably take me about three months to start using 2018 generally, instead of 2017! Lol!
