never heard of the Japanese metal band ...no surprise ...way too many bands out there for me to ever keep up with !!!!!....lol

But I must also add that there are not only too many bands out there, but also too many new different genres out there like post hardcore, hardcore, post rock, metalcore, nintendocore etc.. Oh man.. It drive me nuts!

Not easy. theres so many bands/artists that really own, imo. K. I will try. these are my favorites right now.
Favorite band = Cradle of Filth Favorite artist = Wasted Penguinz

It drive me nuts! Don't forget Japanoise! I'd say that my favourite band is Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band. Their album Trout Mask Replica changed my musical tastes entirely once I got it, and subsequently (because I'm such an audiophile) my life. My favourite artist would have to be either Tom Waits, John Zorn, or Marc Ribot. All three are fantastic, and they're all extraordinarily unique in their own way. However, Marc Ribot often plays with Tom Waits and is the house musician at Zorn's Tzadik label, so I suppose that since he's involved in all three, he's probably my most probable pick.

Mostly Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Simon And Garfunkel, The Beatles and R.E.M. at the moment. And a lot of ''new to me'' stuff like Debashish Bhattacharya Calcutta Chronicles and Xavier Rudd.
