It’s been a long, successful run for the Philadelphia native and self-described “hip-hop blues artist,” whose self-titled 1994 Okeh/Epic Records debut was certified Gold on the strength of the MTV hit, “Cold Beverage,” and a non-stop performing ethic that still has them playing more than 150 shows a year. In fact, the group just recently returned from a headline tour in Australia and Europe that was highlighted by some shows with Jack Johnson. Upon their return to the U.S., the band will be headlining their own outdoor amphitheatre tour with John Butler Trio later this summer.

My team name at work is called the "Robotic Monkey Pirates", but we can't present this to the company and make it official until we have an awesome theme song? Can anyone help me by giving me a title, and possibly a link to the best song ever?

Hey folks,

I'm sure there are already threads of this nature, but I'm choosing to be self indulgent. I want recommendations in regard to jazz albums (and blues too, if you like). My main interest in regard to jazz is avant-garde/free jazz. Stuff like Ornette Coleman, John Zorn, Moondog, Sun Ra, Frank Zappa etc. Anything along those lines (because I only have music by Zorn, recommendations of works by those artists are appreciated to0) would be good. I also am interested in bebop, 'cause of a documentary about Thelonius Monk. Exotica is even cool (which is Latin/jazz fusion?). Speaking of jazz fusion, I like that too. Basically anything that isn't Kenny G.-like in nature is welcome. I'm open!

Thanks in advance.

I used to have a battered cassette of this singer which I listened to for a few years until it got lost in one of my house moves.

I would really like to re-new the acquaintance - so I'd be grateful for any recommendations of her material, if anyone is familiar with it

Recommendations of other artists in a similiar vein would also be interesting.

Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the site, hope I'm welcome here.... eek!

I've got an eclectic taste in music, I like a little bit of everything from classical, to baroque, to grunge, electronica, alt rock and all kinds of other stuff.

Also a huge gamer and really like sound tracks too.

... Have collaborated on a new album together!

If you don't believe me

I think the new songs are pretty decent!

What's going on? Looking for another music discussion forum, and I figured music-discussion.com may be an appropriate place to start. My name's Christian, I'm from Tallahassee, and my music taste run a wide range. Most recently, though, I've been listening to indie rock / folk / singer-songwriter stuff. In addition, I'd be lying if I said I weren't raised on Def Leppard, Tesla, and the likes. So, what's up!
