For the rest of you - this is a piece I am working on called 'Loss' - a working title. It is from a conceptual project called 'Mountain Mantras' - a musical interpretation of the fateful assault (by various parties/groups/countries) on Everest in 1996. This particular piece is about the night Rob Hall died, stranded high up on the mountain too late in the day to descend. This awful tragedy transpired because he was looking out for his clients, which were held up for various reasons, one of them being that there were just too many people on the mountain at the same time. It's only a piece of music. and it's not quite complete yet (it still requires a plaintive piano to close out the last 'verse') but the basic bones are there. Any comments, good or bad (say what you really think) will be welcomed. A final note - it's not an upbeat piece - it's not supposed to be - it's supposed to be a sort of electronic funeral march, although there are real drums, bass, guitars and percussion involved. There are also synthetic elements - sound effects, a Novachord (the world's first synthesiser) and a glass armonica (from sample libraries). A blend of real and synthetic.
