I suppose this is aimed at Griff, but please feel free to respond if you know the answer.

I think I remember reading somewhere that whichever of John or Paul was the principal song-writer of a specific song generally sang the lead vocal on it.

My question is, is this a generally correct rule of thumb, or is the situation more complex ??

Generally you are correct................for most of the Lennon and McCartney songs this is true............there are one or two minor exceptions of early songs .............
