i discovered on holiday that i actually know and like alot of their music-came as a surprise to me lol

it depends on which era of RHCP you are talking about. Everything post-Califormication has been transformed into pop-rock evident in Stadium Arcadium. Not sure, whether they are looking to go back to funk-rock but definitely have a look at Mother's Milk and Blood Sugar Sex Magik.
