Back in the early 80s, UK SUBS had gigs Fri/Sat Sold Out at The Ritz (now Webster Hall) in NYC. I didn't have tickets. However, that Thursday they had a show at a club in Roslyn Long Island (not really accessible by train) called My Fathers Place (quite famous in its day).
The crowd consisted of me and my friend Tom (now deceased). UK Subs played twenty minutes and took off. It was like watching a private rehearsal. I bet they didn't get paid.
