no, apparently he kept it hidden from 'the prying world'....,
which would explain why he didn't do any promotion of "the next day" or the new one?!
and don't forget he was basically a recluse for the decade prior to "the next day"...maybe he had cancer previously and thought
they had got rid of it which is why he made a return with "the next day"????
Last album I bought by him prior to "the next day" was 1984's "tonight" on vinyl...he started to lose me after that "blue jean" single.
I did by 1986's "absolute beginners" on 7" vinyl...
best album for me has to be 1979's "lodger" followed by the Ziggy Stardust album.

im guessing he'll have a couple of albums in the UK top10 next week....
not that I liked Blackstar but it will probably dethrone Adele this week also!

Noooooooooo!!!
As shocking as the news is, Iâm glad that his illness was kept private, and that he was out of the public eye; dignified to the end.
So grateful for the music from this man of many colours ⦠and so sad to be saying goodbye to yet another legend.
RIP David Jones.

I was shocked to hear of his death. Really shocked. Totally unexpected. There is only one word to describe this man, and that is - unique. In every imaginable way.
This track of his (around the Ziggy period) was a favourite of mine many years ago and which now takes on a totally different complexion.

I am heartbroken today! David Bowie is a legendary music icon! He always changed his taste in music and continued to be interesting and avoided the mundane! I will miss him dearly! Along with The Beatles he is dear to my heart...listened to many Bowie albums over the years...such great songs, eclectic genres, and a great presence on stage. I still believe that overall this album is my favourite of all time by any artist or band! I was floored to the carpet when I first heard that drum intro to Five Years!

It was reported that David timed his release of Blackstar knowing the end was near. The video of Lazarus explains it all in the end. Rest peacefully David.
