I read in several places that Laine wanted to play live and spend less time in the studio, but it doesn't explain them not working again. McCartney had several collaborations, including with Steve Miller, Eric stewart and Elvis Costello, but none were as consistent as with Laine. McCartney II does sound a bit sparce.

^ McCartney II was certainly a brief departure! It has an earthy quality and somewhat minimalistic ...as you know he played all the instruments on the album. Being a Beatle fanatic et all,I enjoy the album.

McCartney is a strong multi-instrumentalist. Along with Lennon and Harrison, he went to a grammer school, which is selective on ability.

I'm pleased to remedy that with this crude but fascinating documentary--42 minutes not just for Macca-maniacs but ANY fans of rock circa late '70's, the posting replete with on-point comments:

Some might consider this whole project self-indulgent fatuous twaddle--I'm obviously not one of them. If only there'd been a greater measure of completion..."...For all sad words of tongue or pen/ The saddest of these are: it might have been..." John Greenleaf Whittier
