"...more serious songs..." More serious than what? The conventional country-pop pap? It may be difficult to overcome the current tsunami of crap but this guy isn't some Tulsa/ Austin/ Bakersfield outlaw who risked serious career consequences for singing their heart-felt, audience-pleasing music and I don't see his version of "Ave Maria" on YT either. Is the barrier that low nowadays for what's considered outliers? Then Billy Joe Shavers should just hang up his spurs and take a quiet retirement instead of of making what is likely the best album of his lengthy career: http://www.allmusic.com/album/long-in-th...0002680689 << Amen, Brother Leggett, amen.
My fave (it strikes a deep chord): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1B-JCvBe39Q << that's his son Eddy Shavers (RIP) on Strat. Mr. Church got the cojones to do anything like this? I thought not. Maybe this helps explain things: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/11/02/sunday...crity.html or maybe this:
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/11/02/sunday...crity.html < these aren't my kids/grandkids or my future they are talking about--they are/it is yours.
Fie on thee, grubby, too-easily-pleased little folks.

Nice try but I'm an atheist and Eric Church is utterly conventional. BLNT.

^^^ What do you mean nice try? What I said is true. "Drink In My Hand" is most likely Eric's biggest song if his song named "Springsteen" wasn't more successful.

God bless you and him always!!!

J.O.S.H--"BLNT" means better luck next time and here's a good chance to do it. There's a Post tonight on the origins of country music but it's mostly a travel article--it badly needs someone familiar to add a post of early to modern masters--can you work your magic? http://www.music-discussion.com/showthre...ic-origins << I promise to leave country music alone hereafter. Promise.

^^^ I know what BLNT means, but what you don't seem to realize is that I continue to stand up for whatever it is I believe in no matter how alone I may end up where ever it is that I stand. Confusedmile: Confusedmile: Confusedmile:
