NOTE:
to any youngsters on this site who may read this,"r+b" stands for "rhythm and blues" and means exactly that, not the skanky, trashy psuedo-soul your generation calls "r+b"!
now we've got that out of the way, time for the album...
you regulars on this forum know im a huge fan of Otis Redding and fellow R+B giant Wilson Pickett, especially the material each released prior to 1970
this was Otis' fifth studio album and the last one that was released prior to his untimely death.
this is typical "rough around the edges" soul that Otis is best known for, it has feeling, and more importantly it has 'soul' down to the bottom of its soul!
a couple of interesting covers on here...
"tennessee waltz",an interesting r+b take on the country classic.
"daytripper", a solid interpretation of the Beatles song
"she put the hurt on me",the original version of the song that Spencer Davis Group recorded later in that year.
this album is rated at #251 on the Rolling Stone "top500 albums of all time" list.
