Go on I dare you.
NO :attention:, I dare you :attention::attention::
:.Since you ask, my 10 faves would be (You can tell I mostly follow recommendations of fairly well known stuff): In no particular order - John Coltrane - A Love Supreme (Don't find this easy going, but I like a challenge) - Miles Davis - Birth of The Cool - Miles Davis - Kind of Blue - Arne Domnerus Group - Jazz at The Pawnshop ( This is a famous, live hi-fi demonstration album, it sounds gorgeous, & I love it !!) - Coleman Hawkins - The High & Mighty Hawk - Billie Holiday - The Lady in Autumn - Jacques Loussier - Play Bach 2000 - Oscar Peterson - Night Train - Sonny Rollins - Saxophone Colossus - Frank Sinatra - In The Wee Small Hours Since I'm no expert, I'm hardly qualified to declare these the greatest of all times. Shoot me down, people !!

Tiggi.
Excellent choices. The whole point of the post was not to confirm my prejudices but to find out what is out there that I have not discovered. PaulF

Tiggi Wrote:- John Coltrane - A Love Supreme (Don't find this easy going, but I like a challenge) I'd prefer Stellar Regions by Coltrane. Tiggi Wrote:- Miles Davis - Birth of The Cool Seconded, but I'd add Ascenseur Pour L'Ãchafaud and Sketches of Spain as well. The rest: Keith Jarrett - The Köln Concert (I've got the Vinyl. It's a shitload more awesome than any download can be) Keith Jarrett - Nude Ants Anthony Braxton - Eight (+3) Tristano Compositions Kenny Wheeler - Windmill Tilter and, to add something more recent: The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble - The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble I'm no Jazz connoisseur per se and I might have to check out more of some artists (e.g. Miles or Coltrane) to maybe make a better statement. I might come back to this list some other time and correct this if need be.
