JET feat: IGGY POP "the wild one" & "the wild one(video)" cd single 2008

this one was a one track cd-single release that coincided with the death anniversary of Aussie 1950s/60s rocker Johnny O'Keefe...
J O'K actually wrote and performed this song in 1958, somewhere along the way Iggy discovered it and had a hit with it himself some 30yrs after the original...
then Jet thought it would be fun to pay homeage to the Aussie "king of rock n roll" with help from Iggy
single failed to chart here anyway and is a pice of jumbled rubbish, but i guess someone somewhere probably likes this crap!

JET "she's a genius" b/w "she's a genius(acoustic)" 2009

first single off their third, final and abysmal "shaka rock" album!
"a" side is reasonably good but not anywhere near the same league as their earlier material
"b" side, well, im just about to hear it for the first time when i link it in a minute or so as mine is in its factory sealed packaging!...
single peaked at #20 here and #18 in NZ

JET "black hearts on fire" b/w "seventeen(acoustic)" 2009

second release from their ill-fated third album...
"a" side is a piece of crap IMO and fits in well on Shaka Rock!
"b" side, ive heard this one before,i dont like it neither!
the stupid thing is, the "b" side in its electric form was the next single from the album, so i cant understand why anyone would release a track on a "b" side
then issue it as an "a" side, Dire Straits did it with "so far away" and "walk of life", then WOL was released in its own right, but those guys were a bit bigger than Jet at the time, but its still stupid!
single failed to chart here

Chuck Berry EP is a definite killer ! Man you have a lot of Jet singles!!!!
The ultimate connection is between a performer and its' audience!

when Jet came out i was looking for a "new" band to focus on and collect their music on vinyl for possible value at some future date...
when i heard their debut album "get born" i thought 'these guys can produce the goods' so i started getting everything i could, unfortunately thought, their career nosedived from then on but who knows, their vinyl materail was released in such small quantities that the 'complete collection)in mint condition)" will be worth something someday to someone at some point...

THE BELLE STARS "the clapping song" b/w "blame" 1982

for the majority of their releases these gals were a covers band, biggest hits were "iko iko"(previously posted here),"mockingbird","harlem shuffle" and this one...
they were all passable, but not great...
"b" side is okay also
single peaked at #4 here

CHUCK BERRY "my ding-a-ling" b/w "lets boogie" 1972

Chuckleberry's only ever #1 hit was this comedy "a" side, its full of innuendo's(most of his songs were full of them anyway),
the "a" side, it deserves * for intelligence, ** because its Chuck and *** for its humour, so it gets a like score
"b" side, from memory its a song he recorded in the late 1950s and was a "B" side then also...its not as catchy as his bonifide classics
but its unmistakably Chuck Berry...
single peaked at #47 here, but in the UK it was a #1 smash hit!

"a" side is my pick of the day for you guys to watch/listen to...
its not classic Chuck but its full of bawdy humour, and the cheeky look on his face and in his eyes when he's singing says it all!
great stuff for entertainment value so give it a whirl(and if you dont that probably means you'd rather "play with your own ding-a-ling!")
