Which decade has better music?
You are about the same as me (born late 63) I started really getting into music in the 70s and most of what I really like comes from that period between about 1965 and 1980 so its a couple of decades for me lol
uncle salty Wrote:I chose the 70s, because that's when I discovered music on my own terms.

Born in 64, I pretty much listened to what my folks played. (as did most everyone, I supposed)

I still carry that music with me to this day, and even own some. (as does almost everyone, I suppose)

Along about 10-11 years old, though, thanks to some cousins a couple years older than me, I was introduced to Skynyrd, Zep, Grand Funk, etc. From there, I went out on my own. Carved my own groove.

So, naturally, I chose the period of my musical independence. (as do most people, I suppose)

The greatest thing about music is you can always go back. You can go back any time, any where, in a group, or by yourself.

Sure, there are songs that bring back low points. But the good outweighs the bad by a ton. (as it does for most, I suppose)

But, there's music from every decade that I truly love and enjoy. There's always been good music, always. You just have to look for it. It's out there.

I picked 60's because I really enjoy psychedelic music. Now I just get blessed with "perfected" music.

Welcome aboard MD, Psychedelic! What in your opinion is "perfected music"?

I was just quoting some kids on my bus. I put on Surrealistic Pillow (Jefferson Airplane) and they start groaning and moaning about how gay it was and how it had its imperfections. They also deeply love Hits 1 on Serius Radio, not that thats a bad thing.

I don't think there is such thing as perfected music. It's all a matter of ones preference.

I agree! I was curious regarding the"perfected music" comment since I have never heard that before in the past tense!!!...lol Surrealistic Pillow is a classic, inducted as a classic album here on MD! see the thread!

There may be perfect songs, but that's solely decided by the listener. I think Comfortably Numb is a work of art, especially Gilmour's solos.

As a whole, music won't ever be 'perfected'. That's why we've been at it since the first stick hit the first hollow log or rock or whatever.

That's why we call it the Evolution of Music.

And we music fans are the ones who benefit most. Which is groovy.

Far out brothers - yes Uncle Salty - you are right. CN is a work of art. His solo on 'Dogs' is worth a listen as well. As is his contribution to Supertramp's 'Brother Where You Bound' - scorching stuff.
