I don't think Clash's White Riot showed up here ????...the London Calling album was their break through up and over here!

don't remember anything by the man as a soloist
and he did have a great voice

London Calling was their third UK album from memory...their debut album is as goos as Sex Pistols "never mind the bollocks" IMO...their second album was called "give 'em enough rope" from memory, followed by London Calling, Sandinista,Combat Rock then finally Cut the Crap from around '86ish???

also, pretty sure that White Riot was not included on the original US album as the powers that be over their didnt like it

Yes CH, I have most of Clash's albums...that explains why White Riot didn't chart over here...Canada and US fairly similar in single releases ...some stations do play a lot of Canadian content...forced to by law some time ago...not sure what the percentage is ?

THE BUREAU "only for sheep" b/w "the first one" 1981 release.

when the original Dexy's Midnight Runners split, vocalist Kevin Rowland went and reformed the group with new members...the majority of the original ones went on to form the short lived Bureau...they released three singles of which none charted anywhere except this one is their debut, which charted only here in Australia, it peaked at #9....
the single still has the original Dexy's sound.

GODLEY & CREME "an englishman in new york(strange apparatus)" b/w "silent running" 1979

original members of 10CC who wnet solo...
the single hit the top spot both here and in their home country of England...cant find any chart info for the US for this one though...
the souund of this track and the accompanying video were quite 'out there' back in the day...
was actually thinking this single would have dated really bad, but is hasnt , i still like it and i played the "b" side for the first time which i also like!

THE BEACH BOYS "beach boys medley" b/w "god only knows" , 1981

back when i was a lad, i only knew a few of their tracks so this single release of a medley of BB hits opened my ears to their music...
i gotta admit i loved this as a kid, then i flipped over the single and heard God Only Knows for the first time...i was gobsmacked by that one and wondered why that was the "b" side of the single...God Only Knows is still my favourite track of theirs to this day, cant say the same for the "a" side though!, this single reached #16 here on the Aussie singles charts!
