50 CENT "get rich or die tryin'" cd,2003.
Hmmmm!, now whats the kindest thing i can say about this one... er, not much really...!
im pretty sure this guy is 50c short of a dollar...dumbass,mindnumbingly boring tracks about the usual subjects of b#tches, hoes, niggaz, homies etc etc, im sure you get the picture..
he has no 'flow' with his rapping style(oops!,sorry, did i say style?)..
pure crap IMO, and obviously riding on the coattails of Marshall Mathers III...
four okay tracks on here, eleven that i didnt even finish listening to before i pressed the 'skip' button..
rating 1.3...and that is being generous!

from my library (cd)
Another from the new stack, and another not meeting expectations. Gets a low like grade and
there is potential, but a full price purchase should better that. I had heard of these guys
before, but had no idea they had that many albums. I guess it's the stoner in me that attracted
me to this one, as that is what most of the album is about. Not that some of their lyrics don't
go a little deeper than that. I might add, some go a little shallower as well. Punk/hip-hop is
how I would describe this album, most tracks leaning to the latter. A few of them started as
being terrible, but by half way through, you're hooked on the beatz (moving into my 2000's
lingo). The album peaked at #36 here and #7 on the rap chart.

WILSON PICKETT "im in love" cd, 1968
dont get me wrong because i love this singer, but he was past his use-by date around this time...doesnt mean he was terrible, just means his classic songs were behind him and he was startding to sing second rate R&B...
and this shows, as the album barely scraped into the US top50, and the highest charting single was "she's looking good" at #15(which, incidently, i do love!), a couple of covers on here that should have been brilliant IMO.."stagger lee" and "bring it on home to me", but feels like theyre going through the motions, if he'd have recorded these just two years prior to this, these would surely have been blistering covers rivalling the originals with out doubt, but theyre not and thats the way it is!
leave this album alone if you are a casual listener to Pickett...IMO stick to his early albums or better still a decent best of set!

In general I agree with you but on a musical level some of 50 cents tracks are in the pocket. Like 'In Da Club' produced by Dr. Dre... its a hit for a reason. The message is of course complete trash! But yeah you turn it on and you just know it would light up the club.
Now his stuff sucks ass.
