Bit of a dodgy video though
That is just HILARIOUS!!!
Ok, I tend to agree with JonG in that, there are not many genres I would say I out right HATE, because I tend to keep a pretty open mind when it comes to music and like to give most things a try anyway. That being said though, something I have given a try and just CANNOT warm up to is death metal. I don't know, maybe its just my age showing (and fine, so be it) but I just cannot stand to listen to that stuff! :o_O:

I think that kind of music is an example of what happens when white people try to do their take on what is friggin' great - black soul music.

What about The Righteous Brothers? Believe me, I love soul music and hate the bastardization of it, but artists like Akon and Beyonce have done just as much to kill it as those artists.

I blame Whitney Houston, and to some degree, Mariah Carey for ruining what the popular music world thinks of soul. Except they stopped calling it soul. It's now "RnB". RnB used to be something totally different thirty - forty years ago. If Beach was still active on this site he could expand on that point.
Akon and Beyonce are riding on their success.

My husband is totally unaware of the modern use of "RnB" as a genre but is a big fan of the old style stuff - so I've listened to him having some pretty confused conversations about music!

I like to think I can appreciate all genres of music, whether it be as a whole, or just being able to pick ouot a pretty melody within a mix of other bits I might not like.
I'm not a massive fan of modern jazz, but I can appreciate the meaning and the talent behind it most of the time

Nothing irks me more than Experimental music. It gives me headaches, there is no planning in the music, it is just people senselessly banging pots and pans and screaming.
Edit: Oh yeah, I forgot about Screamo. That is the same as Experimental in my eyes.
