I like country, but I like the country that is sincere and not so redneckish, John Denver and Johnny Cash are great. Most older country kept its sincerity. Dierks Bentley, The Dixie Chicks, Miranda Lambert's Revolution, Alan Jackson, Eastin Corbin, Carrie Underwood is some newer country I like though. I dislike Toby Keith and Trace Adkins's music very much so.

I think it is the fact that so much country seems so mawkish has put me off but I would listen to Patsy Cline, Jim Reeves and Johnny Cash. Of course in Ireland the terrifying genre of Country and Western is hugely popular - step up Daniel O'Donnell.
I listening to a series on the radio a few years ago that concentrated on really early - 1930s/40s American country which has more gospel and bluegrass based and I enjoyed this immensely, I'd love to listen to this again.
But all genres have some pieces that you end up loving, I think - even Jazz. I think I'll always prefer punk and alternative though.

There is no such thing...and there is no one who equally enjoys all genres of music. Those who think so are fooling themselves. "Enjoyment" and "appreciation" are not nearly the same thing. Please prove me wrong--mere blog-style opinion need not apply nor does the appendage "I don't like it." repeated endless times. Have a nice day.

I've had it in my car's c.d. player for the last yr. & I'm still discovering more about it everyday!!! My fav. songs are Fountain of Salmacis, Harlequin, For Absent Friends, Harold the Barrel and of course, the Incomparable.... RETURN OF THE GIANT HOGWEED!!! If you are truly an open minded music lover, you may enjoy this album, however it's not for everybody .....

I've heard the following enough to know they're okay, but not the sort of thing I listen to more than once or twice a year or so.: Wilco, Dixie Chicks, BB King, Green Day, Nirvana, Radiohead, Avril Lavigne, Led Zeppelin, Beethoven, Mozart.
The rest I either haven't heard, or have heard and don't care to hear any more.
I like all genres of music and like to study them all too.
