I've seen him many, many times. I go to a lot of shows and he'd be there too. To see the show that is. I've gone to parties and he'd be there. Deerhunter has opened for a lot of bands over the years. I never liked them much. Their last album, the one that made them popular is different that what they used to sound like. They used to be a straight up noise band. There also used to be a weekly "experimental" open-mic night. He performed there many times in one way or another. So I've never really had a conversation with him but I used to see him all over town. It was no big deal.

Iota: What's that Enduser album like?

JonG: Where are you from, and where was this open-mic night taking place at?

It sounds a bit like Vsnares but it isn't that hectic. He's influenced by hip hop so that makes his breakcore sound somewhat smoother.

That's good because I'm still digesting Vsnares. This is a good intermediary or possible alternative I take it? Are there vocals, or does it fall into the burgeoning "instrumental hip-hop" genre?

Basically, it isn't really hip hop. There are vocals but they're not rapped. The majority is instrumental, though, but I wouldn't classify it as "instrumental hip-hop". Some people call it "raggacore".

Which Vsnares album did you listen to? Try Rossz Csillag Alatt Született. It's his best, imo.

If you look in the top right side of my posts it gives my location.

Atlanta (GA) United States. It is where Brandon Cox/Atlas Sound and his band Deerhunter are from. The open-mic night was at a bar called Lenny's. I'm not sure if it still happens. The bar moved to a new location and I haven't been there since.

A whole bunch of Deerhunter and Atlus Sound music was stolen from Cox's computer recently. There are literally over two full albums of this material available on the internet right now.

Even though this thread is about the best albums of 2008 it was started way back in August when we were just over half way done. And it morphed into a "what is electronic music?" and "Atlas Sound is great" thread. So I'm going to start a new thread. A proper "best of 2008".
