famous last words!
we have a positive case of the Indian Variant here in WA now.
was detected early this morning and by lunchtime the State Govt put us into a 'soft lockdown' until this coming Wednesday
guessing the authorities are hoping to trace the infected persons contacts since arriving back in the State several days ago....
stay tuned.....

snap lockdowns now hit four States here due to the Indian Variant: Coronavirus hits four states with NSW, WA, NT and QLD on alert (msn.com)
the Daily Mail has a report that says Covid could affect the population growth of Australia until 2061 (and im sure it could probably relate to most countries). Covid expected to have effects on Australia that will be felt in 2061 (msn.com)
and the world is just shy of 182 million official cases now: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/?%20

Back to lockdown level 4 for us. Adjusted. No gatherings, restaurants can only serve takeaways (but 50 people can attend a funeral and minibus taxis can operate, fully loaded), no alcohol sales at all, curfew from 21h00 to 04h00, travel between provinces prohibited, schools will close and are bringing the holidays forward, masks are mandatory in public places, as they have been all along. Big spikes in new cases - the delta variant spreading madly - let's hope we don't go through the entire alphabet! Vaccines still only available to those who are 60+. That should change shortly, hopefully. A pitiful less than 500,000 people fully vaccinated - around 2,6m who've had one dose ... out of 59m. Many Rivers to Cross!

we are back in a full lockdown for the first time in 15 months here (a week long lockdown at this stage) to try to contain 3 cases of the Indian variant before it takes hold in the community,
the week basically gives the authorities enough time to track all the contact tracing of people who may have been around the infected people.
https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/australia...d=msedgntp
only essential shops are allowed to open, food, pharmacy, fuel, and essential workers.
cafes etc only allowed to do take out
5 persons allowed at weddings, 10 at funerals
no hospital visitors, the exceptions being for partner support at childbirth, deathbed visits and parents allowed to visit their children.
no travel beyond 5km from home
masks to be worn outside the home
no visitors at homes, except to care for the elderly and those who need home help
sporting venues, zero crowd attendence
would much rather put up with a week or two of those measures and be back to normal for sure

183 million cases now...
had a handful of Indian Variant cases here this week but a snap lockdown seems to have halted it so far...
we have a pretty good tracing app program here that most people use so it is easy to back track who has been in a particular location at any given time to determine possible interactions in the community...
fingers crossed in the meantime though....

Got my second shot of the Pfizer vaccine a few days ago. No side effects whatsoever. A number of colleagues who have had the Moderna vaccine have reported crazy symptoms. Chronic vomiting, heart palpitations and the runs. Not pleasant. Now I am beginning to wonder whether their vaccine is actually doing something and my one is doing nothing????

Right on my birthday! Ooh... I can't promise that you will have no side effects. Anything created or done on the 8th July tends to result in very unstable results....

First shot booked for Wednesday. I expect it will be the Pfizer. Take up here is not great.
