Just gone past the 45 million mark. As CH says growing at roughly half a million every 24 hours. And that's only the ones we know of...
It took over 6 months to reach 20 million
It took just two months to reach 40 million (big surge during August, September & early October.)
It has taken 15 days to reach 45 million so roughly between 10 and 15 million per month at the moment.
Been reading a few of the articles about possible vaccines ready before year end. Seems like they are making some progress in various companies around the world.

i believe the UK is about to go into full lockdown again as their infection rates are now apparently double what the 'worst case scenario' predictions were/are for the lead up to Christmas.

We're holding steady at around 52,000 current infections and 19,000 deaths. Still on Level 1, still wearing masks and being sanitised at entrances to public places but otherwise pretty much life as usual. Testing is not comprehensive and only done if there are very obvious symptoms, so chances are there are many more who've contracted it and recovered without even knowing they had it to begin with. Doubt we'll ever know the full extent. Some are saying that our very hard lock down actually created some sort of herd immunity in those communities who live in very cramped conditions and who basically couldn't practice social distancing. India also seems to have a very high recovery rate by comparison. Still not convinced of the accuracy of these numbers but they're at least likely to be good indicators, with a few notable exceptions!

all of our States are now cautiously opening up or easing restrictions..
im not really sure what the best solution for Covid is because countries that went into lockdown dont seem to be any better off than countrues that didnt.
that said. our national horserace The Melbourne Cup was run today without crowds in attendence, the race normally draws several hundred thousand patrons to the track with numerous other functions throughout Australia but not this year.

i hope the soon to be confirmed POTUS (Biden) can put his money where his mouth is that he could sort out Covid as the US just recorded its worst single day of new infection cases to date: 103,000.
and at the same time the world hits the 48,000,000 mark of confirmed cases.
thats less than 48hrs/2 days since the previous milestone of 47 million.
looks like its gaining pace with the northern winter fast approaching!
seems a mutated strain of the virus has been transmitted from Mink to 12 people so far in Denmark
the country prepares to slaughter/cull 17,000,000 Mink to hopefully stop the inter-species spread:
