animals, mainly birds, that have not been seen in some areas for 50 or more years have returned due to the lack of human activity.
that's taken just over a month for this to happen, incredible.
which brings me to a doco I watched a couple of years ago about the end of humanity, and the fact scientists thought it would only take 30 or so years for nature to reclaim the land.
seems about right to me after that news story
I've noticed a marked increase in birdsong and activity, but I don't know if that is just because there's no white noise, so to speak. Everything seems so much clearer - even voices carrying uphill, and the ocean too. The difference is little to no vehicular traffic, and no industrial sounds - not that there was a lot of that anyway - just the navy and dockyard. Amazing how something you filter out as a matter of course every day mutes everything else, even in an average sized town. Great for the wild places to be having a break from litter and other forms of pollution etc., as well, IMHO. Pity it had to come to this for that respite though!

singe P!nk has just come out (not sexually) and announced she and her son tested positive for C-19 three weeks ago.
both are now fully recovered.
she has also donated $500,000 (each) to a hospital in Philly,PA (her home State) and also some research hospital in La-la Land

Not a fan of Pink by any means but her donation seems to be heartfelt. Looking after the community that looked after her. Nice touch. Yes Ruby, I have noticed it as well. Morning birdsong seems much brighter and there are sounds I have never heard before. Amazing how birds can all be making hundreds of calls and sounds all 'out of tune' etc. but it all sounds complete. When a human being does the same thing with two discordant notes it sounds hideous. There's some sort of lesson in that but for the life of me I can't figure it out. Years ago I was in Montpellier, France. I was staying on a farm some distance from the city. I used to go sit and read under a massive tree they had near the main house. The sound of the wind in the trees is the single most satisfying and relaxing sound I have ever heard to date. Used to fall asleep in the chair - of course the vino contributed to that as well! Magical time. No music, no people - just the wind in the trees. As the band 'Talk Talk' said. Happiness Is Easy.
Just looking at a post further up the thread - it won't take 30 years for nature to reclaim the land. It will take far less time.
Another thing - I certainly don't miss the lack of sports coverage at all. As I have got older sport has become less and less important. Unfortunately television stations seemed to be hellbent on replacing those slots with endless cooking programs run by people who don't know how to cook at all. Jeez, I can cook better and that's not saying much. And I don't miss going to the pub either. In fact I stopped going long before C-19 kicked in anyway. Those days are in the past. Must admit I am itching to travel someplace - anywhere really. Cabin fever has set in big time. Need a different landscape to look at.

I have also noticed that a lot of companies/industries have pulled TV advertising for the moment. All except one of course - the insurance industry. The Great Insurance Industry Ripoff continues unabated. No surprise there.

Some people just don't get it do they. EVERYONE is taking a hit Mr. Rooney. Some with their lives. And you are bitching about taking a pay cut? I hope that if and when this all ends premier league footballers end up working at a fast food joint. That will give them a real taste of reality. Do you want some Smiley Sauce with that? Only a dollar fifty extra!

and in complete reversal of Wayne Rooney and Co...
when the Australian Football League got cancelled after one round three or so weeks ago the Coach/Manager of one of the teams voluntarily forfeited his entire pay for season and his team players each forfeited 50% of their annual salary voluntarily also.
since then, every other team in the league has done the same

And one good thing that has come out of all of this - betting shops and bookies can't fleece stupid people while all this is going on. We all have our faults and vices but gambling has never been an option for me. In fact I have never been in a casino in my life. I just can't see the attraction at all. Fool's Gold.

LOL
ive had a few meals in our casino but I don't gamble there.
used to put small bets on Harness Racing many years ago, but that was just to spend time with Dad on Friday evenings at the track so he didn't have to go alone.

The casinos, machines, etc. are geared to win or what would be in it for them? Absolute con, and unfortunately people get addicted. Not for me thanks.
On Covid-19 - never has there been more fertile ground for fruitcakes. I'm not averse to a well developed alternative theory or two - sometimes they pose valid questions, but on the other hand, there are also some seriously disturbed people out there!!

Ruby: love that FB3 track.
Australian Police are warning parents that with their children spending more time online during this crisis that they are open to even more potential grooming from Paedophiles and that there seems to be more activity on 'the dark web' recently.
im sure this would be an issue everywhere and not just here:
