^Sorry to hear he has it.
Hate to be the prophet of doom, but we’re officially in hot water now I think, big time. Confirmed cases in Khayelitsha – a massive sprawling township, and in Mitchell’s Plain, which is right next door to that. It is a physical impossibility for people who live in shacks to practice social distancing, and mostly, these same people do not have access to adequate ablution facilities either – several families share a single outside tap for water, and one toilet, and this virus can stay alive on many surfaces for periods of time. Add rampant cases of TB and HIV into the mix and you have a recipe for untold disaster. Can’t even imagine. Besides, the very poor generally only survive because they share everything. So difficult. Same story in marginalised communities the world over. The city authorities are scrambling to get the homeless into some form of shelter as well - now that all the businesses have closed their doors, they've made themselves comfortable on empty shop verandas, in doorways and alleyways and there are no public toilets so if something isn't done about that soon, we'll have cholera on top of everything else. I am so grateful every day for a safe, clean place to live!
The cigarette sales ban has been retracted, much to the relief of many! They had also stopped sales of magazines, which too has been reversed. All over the place with do's and don't's.

death toll in Australia is very low at the moment, 24 deaths so far.
it helps when there are huge distances between major hubs throughout the country.
some people just don't get it though with Police issuing fines for people meeting to drink take out coffee, or exercising together, or sunbathing?? WTF
one dude was given three 'move on' notices by Police for not having a legitimate reason to be out and about,
they eventually caught him buying a Kebab...$1000 on the spot fine!

Dani has been told by her boss in the Pharmacy, as have all the staff, they need to get their flu-fax injection by close of business Friday of don't bother coming back on Monday...and rightfully so.
meanwhile,
Flu-vax for the general public is not available until the end of April, but that's okay by me even though im in a high risk group to catch it and have serious complications, because first responders and essential service persons need it first as theyre in 'the line of fire' from Covid-19

It's becoming more and more difficult to sift out the facts from the fiction. Masks are in one minute, then they're out and there are so many theories doing the rounds, the whole 5G debate being one of them. Hmmmm ....
Seven days down for us, who knows how many more to go?! Feels a bit surreal - people are still venturing out when they needn't, other problems are that the military are overstepping the mark sometimes which I suppose was bound to happen - all quite fraught on the human rights front. Shelters have been set up for the homeless from in and around where I live and in greater Cape Town, which is progress, and there are a lot of selfless humanitarian helpers out there who deserving of so much more than respect.
So far numbers are low but the next two weeks will be critical. Since carriers can be asymptomatic, I don't see how containment is possible, ultimately, unless every single person is tested which leads to an entirely new can of worms. All very confusing!!

interesting news story on one of our news channels:
animals, mainly birds, that have not been seen in some areas for 50 or more years have returned due to the lack of human activity.
that's taken just over a month for this to happen, incredible.
which brings me to a doco I watched a couple of years ago about the end of humanity, and the fact scientists thought it would only take 30 or so years for nature to reclaim the land.
seems about right to me after that news story

some people are just dumbasses!
a K-pop star tweeted on April Fools Day that he had Coronavirus.
was a huge backlash when he said it was a Foolsday joke!
seriously
why would anyone joke about that??
