I never bothered with Strummer solo or with BAD or BAD II. I actually bought Sandinista on a whim, and though I don't regret it I probably don't need any other Clash albums.
The first incarnation of BAD did some interesting reggae-tinged songs. BAD II not so much. Rush is an amusing novelty song I suppose; their other big hit, The Globe, annoys me no end with what sounds like synthesised sneezing in the intro, and its sampling of "Should I Stay Or Should I Go".
The Clash are the only punk band whose music I was ever tempted to own.
Strummer regretted sacking Mick Jones. Apparently he spent some time tracking him down in an attempt to convince him to return to the band, but by that time Jones was doing his own thing.

I love The Clash's London Calling album to bits! Released in Dec 1979 in the UK and early in 1980 elsewhere, the album blew me away! So many different styles of muse! Songs were practically joined together with no long silent spells between them! Actually the opening track London Calling, is my least favourite! and the album cover has to be one of the coolest ever!

the layout of the London Calling album was an intentional rip off of the cover of the first Elvis Presley album as acknowledged by Strummer/Jones back in 1979.

@bob_32_116 Well believe it or not, there are people like that. It's not even from my own judgement, that's just how they are. Yes, it's for a few people I've me on this site, not on this account though. It was a while back. And like I've said, I wouldn't care if they just criticized the music I like because they don't like it. That's completely normal I think, and there are hundreds of cases where it's like that. Like you order a hamburger and they insult you because you didn't order a cheeseburger like they did. But I'd be preeetty annoyed if they said I'm stupid because I ordered a hamburger and everyone else around me did as well. Like what? I'm not allowed to do something I like just because everyone else does that exact same thing? That was a very, very weird example but I think you get it. I'm hungry atm so burgers first popped up in my mind. I don't know, maybe I'm the only person who is really frustrated about it idk.
And 0815 is kind of slang for 'basic'.

The Clash (and The Jam) were never accepted by the UK punk community back in '77 because they weren't considered punks...
Clash were big fans of rockabilly, r+r, reggae, dnace etc
Jam used to wear suits with a clean cut look, and like Clash, loved the music they grew up with also...
whereas the majority of the UK bands dissed just about everything publicly that came before them(it was their image), dressed dirty/unkempt
and were anarchists...
tis funny how things change, John Lydon is a close friend of Neil Young and Bob Dylan and now lives in a nice house in LA, appears on those 'celebrity'
reality shows in the UK, advertises things like brands of butter on tv etc....
im not criticising him for doing those things, just saying how your perspective of things change as you get older, become more mature etc as opposed
to how he was in 1977 with Sex Pistols.
