Yellow is in reference to yellow journalism. The song is about the media twisting things to fit an ideology Rather than present the facts indiscriminately.

Honestly, these days I wouldn't mind some good ol' fashioned yellow journalism.  To my eyes, it seems like journalists only see red these days.
