The Piper at the Gates of Dawn. I love DSotM, Ummagumma, Meddle, and Atom Heart Mother, can't stand The Wall.
Well, perhaps it's wrong to say that I "can't stand The Wall". I like the music. I just find it terribly pompous and juvenile as a concept album.

pompous/ self indulgent and grandiose is what i'd call it but after "the division bell" it is my fave of theirs.
I guess Waters was exorcising the demons of his childhood though,

I think it's rather politically charged, but I still like The Wall. I also like The Division Bell, Meddle, DSOTM, and WYWH.

throughout this thread I find that on one seems to mention "the final cut", why is that, I thought it was an okay album?!

Brilliant dark album. It's really a very personal album for Waters. Really exposes what he felt about the loss of his father. The Wall was 'shock therapy'. The Final Cut was the reason the therapy was required.

still don't have it on cd though, I guess I will at some point.

Every politician in the world should listen to 'The Fletcher Memorial Home'. Might teach them something. God knows the current batch of so-called world 'leaders' are in desperate need of some direction. They are all pandering to TV shows but not a single one has a plan. Just hype and BS. Seems the new trick is to say one thing one day and do the opposite thing the next. Keep the electorate confused and muddy the waters. (Pardon the pun).

I'm partial to WYWH. Though, I need to sit down and listen to "Meddle" in its entirety one of these days. I love "Echoes" but never thought to dig deeper into the album until I heard a live concert of theirs from the time (bootleg titled "Meddled"). Truly amazing stuff. Making me rethink my position on the "Meddled" album as a whole.

Meddle was a ground-breaking album for the Floyd and really showed them the way to go. While 'Echoes' is brilliant, I am not that fond of the rest of the album except for 'A Pillow of Winds', which I really like - very atmospheric track. The others don't do anything for me. Just filler IMO.

Although DSOTM was the most successful, WYWH is the masterpiece. A pivotal moment in my musical education.
