my "singles" collection
Only Women Bleed...very good song!!!!
CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:ALICE COOPER "only women bleed" b/w "welcome to my nightmare" 1975

this "a" side was later retitled "only women" because it was deemed offensive back in the day...
its a beautiful ballad IMO, and im not a huge Cooper fan by any means...
"b" side, im not really impressed with it, but im sure fans will and do love it!
single peaked at #50 here

ASWAD "dont turn around" b/w "woman" 1988

shortlived reggae group who only ever had one hit here...
when this one came out of the pile yesterday i thought..."great,i havent heard this for years,i love it!"
but sadly, i dont love it no more, infact i dislike it!
same goes for the "b" side
single only peaked at #53 here

THE BEATLES "love me do" b/w "i feel fine" and "rock and roll music" 1982

this was a freebie single that came with their superb "beatle ballads" album...
its pretty difficult not to love these three tracks, especially John's superb cover of the Chuck Berry classic

not posting links here as we all know the songs and it wasnt an official single release!

JET "stand up" 2007

fifth single from their second album 'shine on'
this was a single sided 7" single
its a load of old crap, their worst single release up to that point, but no need to worry...
the worst is yet to come from their third album,LOL...
single failed to chart here

RACEY "boy oh boy" b/w "sensational buzz" 1979

UK boy-band who really only had three major hits, this was the third one...
these guys also sung the original version of Toni Basil's "mickey", but their original was entitled "kitty"
this "a" side isnt too bad, its typical catchy boyband stuff from that preiod
"b" side...forget it!
single peaked at #2 in the UK but only managed #12 here

THE BEATLES "strawberry fields forever" b/w "penny lane" 1967

IMO, by far their best single(both sides)...
there was nothing that sounded like Strawberry Fields when it was released, the sound was totally original..
"both sides of this single show the diversity and difference between where both John and Paul were in the music...
single reached #1 here

SEX PISTOLS "god save the queen" b/w "did you no wrong" 1977

released in the year of the QEII's silver jubilee..
banned by radio, banned by TV and banned from appearing on the charts as the #1 single in the UK for its week on top of the charts...
the only way they could get people to hear it was by sailing down the Thames River on a barge...so they did, and stopped right in front of the Houses Of Parliament when the Queen was there...LMFAO!
anyway,"a" side is a punk classic, but isnt most of what these guys did?
"b" side isnt very good(one of the few SP tracks i dont like!)
single failed to chart here but like i stated up above it did reach #1 in the UK, but officially it got to #2 because the upper class ruling BBC wouldnt allow it to be seen to get to #1,therefore,the week it did the charts had no #1 hit!!!!

HARRY BELAFONTE "day-o" b/w "beetlejuice-main title" 1988

"a" side is a re-issue courtesy of being part of the "beetlejuice" soundtrack movie...
i love that track...
"b" side is as it states, the main title piece of music, not my thing but maybe yours
single reached #59 here

BEATLES "we can work it out" b/w "daytripper" 1965

even though i like these two tracks they are still pretty weak songs in the lennon/mccartney arsenal IMO.
infact i find them very average to say the least, just sounds like theyre going through the motions here,
but that said i think "paperback writer" is probably the worst single they ever released!
single did the standard chart thing here by reaching #1 as usual!

"we can work it out" **
